Bridge

Picture 1:
Both bridges are made from maple. The bass bridge is fitted with an apron to allow for longer strings in the bass without being too close to the rim. The bridges have to be carved which is done by hand as well as by sophisticated machinery.

Picture 2:
The bridge is carved to determine exactly the speaking length of the string.

Picture 3:
The distance of the bridge and the iron frame has to be closely observed as this decides how the strings are pressing on the soundboard.
